“The NASCAR Historian” was founded in an attempt to make the NASCAR off-season a little less boring.  Join us everyday from November to February as we countdown the days until the 2016 Daytona 500 with facts, stories, and trivia from the sport’s past.

Information comes from thousands of sources, but most prominently drivingaverages.com, Jayski.com, and wikipedia.

The Countdown to Daytona was started following the 2014 NASCAR season for the /r/NASCAR subreddit by user /u/the_colbeast.

  1. I have a photo of early nascar track promoters and I would like to share this with someone who can identify those in the photo. Can you assist.

    1. I started my Nascar career going to the 1960 Daytona 500 and have gone to 40+ Daytona’s 500 races.. After 1975, I saved a program from every race and went to most all Nascar tracks.
